The Yankees now need a shortstop due to Didi's TJ surgery. While they have in the outfield: Judge, Stanton, Hicks, Frazier, Ellsbury, and even Gardner if they exercise their club option. Plus, they have Estevan Florial (aka: Skinny Papi) waiting in the wings. So it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to say, "might as well go after Harper too" because you say Machado is going to break the Yankees' unbreakable bank.
PS: I'd rather go after 32 year old "left handed hitting" Michael Brantley, than 32 year old "right handed hitting" Andrew McCutchen.
