We should've kept Steve Pearce after the 2012 season?? We had Teixeira & Cano at 1st base & 2nd base, so where was he going to play in 2013 and beyond? Plus, Pearce is and always has been a platoon player who never had more than 400 at bats in a single season. He had only 250 at bats between the Blue Jays and Red Sucks this year in 2018. Plus, he's as old as Brett Gardner, who we're about to let go.
Nathan Eovaldi had his second, I repeat "second" TJ surgery in August of 2016, which required TWO surgeries. One to repair the flexor tendon and the other to replace his UCL tendon. That's pretty serious for a second TJ Surgery! And of course, he was going to miss the entire 2017 season. So we should have re-signed him? If so, then I guess we should have re-signed Michael Pineda after his TJ Surgery in July of 2017, who was just as inconsistent as Eovaldi was for us, lol.
Didi could very well be out for the entire 2019 season. So do we really want Echevarria at shortstop (or 2nd base if you move Gleyber to short) for the entire 2019 season? Especially when we could possibly sign a 26 year old GENERATIONAL TALENT to be our shortstop? Call me crazy, but I'll take Machado. Didi is a great player and I love him, but he's not as good as Many Machado, he just isn't. And now you have to take into consideration Didi's TJ surgery to his right elbow. Gleyber had TJ surgery last year, but to his left NON-throwing elbow. Big difference!!
Boone says Didi could possibly be back by June. Yeah right.. He also said Judge would be back in the line up in THREE WEEKS after fracturing his wrist on July 26th... Aaron's first game back was on September 18th. That's two days short of EIGHT weeks!!! Don't hold your breath to see Didi back by June!
