I'm with you on this. If you're gonna pay a guy to manage, let him! Not just to pencil in the names a cyber metrics program spits out. If someone is hot, you don't cool him off by giving him a day off. I don't care if a guy is scheduled to take a day off, if you're hot, you're gonna play until you hit a slump or cool off. You don't see Francona giving Betts or Martinez a day off after they've hit homers in the previous game. I agree with Michael Kay on this.
