First though I think the money is ridiculous not just for Cole but most of today's contracts. I have no problem with giving Gerritt 10 years - he's giving his all every day not just when he pitches. He watches the other pitchers, our abs and when asked, offers suggestions like another coach.
I was against any extension for Hicks from the beginning - can't wait until Florial gets his big chance but the powers that be feel he needs to get more reps in AAA. With the latest Stanton injury and that coming while he was just DH, don't expect him get any time in LF now UNLESS there is an immediate emergency. Had they kept Florial who would you send down tonight while activating Stanton??? Ford , Odor - needn't when DJ is playing one of the other positions. Ty Wade is too valuable as overall utility = and now they're experimenting with him in CF.
