Great news and just what I hoped for. I guess my vibe was correct. As an old school guy I hate the big numbers. I guess Judge likes his 99 but I hope Volpe switches to a baseball number rather than the FB 77 he's been wearing. I know so many of the lower numbers have been retired. 11 is the lowest number not currently assigned. Does anyone know if the Yankees are holding this number outby tkaes - TheYankeesBoard.com

I've had this fantasy trade in my head for a number of months. Schmidt, I would imagine is a coveted young pitcher especially now that he's had an outstanding spring to be named the second game starter. The Angels have needed pitching for years. I'd like to see the Yanks package Stanton, Torres, and Schmidt for Trout and and a decent OF prospect. Stanton goes home to Orange County and NJ naby tkaes - TheYankeesBoard.com

I'd love to see Volpe win the job. I get all the talk that he's probably best suited for 2B. I get all the talk that he's hardly had any AAA experience. He's defied all the naysayers so far. Don't misunderstand, I'm not foolish enough to suggest that he's the next Jeter (they are few and far between), but I'm getting a Jeter like vibe. I'm sure this will come as no surprise based on previous comments. I'm one of those fans who can't stand Cashman. I don't believe he has really been trying to do anything in LF except pay it lip service... Hicks being the starter on OD is adding insult to injury.by tkaes - TheYankeesBoard.com

I'm not saying they need to spend more money for the sake of spending money. They need more talented productive players. If that necessitates spending more money then so be it They misspent money on Donaldson and Hicks for example and have to do something to overcome that. maybe Sabean will help keep Cash from spending money on players he's "fallen in love with" and keeps chasing orby tkaes - TheYankeesBoard.com

I realize and fully understand this regardless of the fact that you guys keep writing it. I stand by my original point. 5, Hiding behind the veil of fiscal responsibility. Fiscal responsibility doesn't beat the Astros in the ALCS or whomever before that. Management has a choice. My last point was included because you and Toga often respond to me that Cash and Hal are being luxury tax prudent. As for Verlander did they offer him enough several years ago? Once again we disagree. Here's what is ON the management team: 1. Acquiring an anemic hitting Josh Donaldson whose days as a productive hitter had passed him by several years ago. 2. A few years ago signing Hicks to a ridiculous 7 year contract which they are now stuck with because no one wants him at that price. 3. We simply have different perspectives Toga. One word - 2009. It's not just this offseason. It's been 13 years and they haven't done enough. As I posted previously they had no choice but to sell Judge on staying in the Bronx and resigning Rizzo was important. Different perspective I guess. I wouldn't characterize the winter as outstanding. They did 3 things they needed to do among but only 1 (Rodon) represents a change, albeit a very significant change. But there are still glaring weaknesses. As we all know a LF and IMO an above average LH bat. The dearth of LH bats has been for too long a glaring problem that Cash has been unable or unwilling toby tkaes - TheYankeesBoard.com

This is exciting news. No, overwhelming news. Cash has really been working hard to make the Yanks a better club. Wow! An ERA over 5 and a a 1.29 WHIP, He'll really bolster that bullpen. Maybe you guys disagree. They had to sign Judge or they would have lost the fan base. That would have been akin to trading DiMaggio or Mantle back in the day. Getting Rodon was a great move also. and what would you be willing to trade? Can Reynolds or Bader play LF? Who would you be willing to give up if you were Cash? If you really need a LF, how much is too much? I'd trade one of the SS, preferably OP,Torres, and and as many SPs as needed not named Cole, Rodon, Cortes, Sevirino, or Montas. What that says to me is that Hal is eager to win another Championship. He apparently enjoys losing in the ALDS or ALCS. Maybe he should just sell the team to somebody with deeper pockets who does want to win. AT some point people will stop buying tickets and advertisers will stop paying so dearly to sponsor the telecasts. If they don't win the Rodon sweepstakes, is Eovaldi a better SP than anybody on the roster now nor named Cole or Nestor?
