that's the drawback to FA era- gone are the days of the year-to-year contracts where you were paid based on performance not what was expected. Teams held the trump card that if you weren't on the plane to ST, you would be fined. FA, Boa$$ type agents, mega year & ultra high contracts plus the MLBPA have taken over.
