CC's Final Month

August 31, 2019 07:05AM
With the last month of the regular season upon us, CC is in the final days of his MLB pitching career. For the past ten years of hs long carer, he has been a cog in the Yankee rotation-not an ace but a stabilizing force to be reckoned with at times. He started as a fireballer but over the time made the transition to finesse. He's comeback from bad knees, battled alcoholism & returned, then a life-threatening heart procedure last winter. Like all ball players that have donned the uniform, we are watching a shell of what was. In 2019, he reached milestones of 3000 Ks and 250 Ws. I don't expect him to dominate anymore .
When he exited the game last night, the question raised about tthe remainder of his career. My thought is with September call ups due tomorrow - why not use a starter in his games - bring him for 3/4 innings in the middle or use him as the opener for 2/3. He's going to give his all but only a few innings of endurance before the knee pain becomes unbearable. For post season he could be the middle guy - but only bring him at the start of an inning. In this way the once dominate pitcher can go out with pride - wrapping of a potential HOF career.
Thank CC for 11 seasons of memories.
