that was the problem - pitching Art Ditmas in game 2 and saving Whitey for game 3 - so Ford was not available to start game 7 which turned into a slugfest. The Yankees lost 4 close games while skunking the Pirates in the other three. So bad it had Mickey in tears on the plane coming home and me heading to play tennis with my BFF (must have looked weird walking up that hill in tears)
