I think because at the time we obtained Stanton, Hicks was in center and Gardy in left, and he wasn’t going to push Judge out of right. However, that’s no excuse for why he can’t play left now, unless he runs like a grizzly after a fly ball. I don’t think he could cover as much ground as an advanced aged Gardy could today. But that’s just me.
