The Yankees moved to upgrade their already-dominant bullpen on Tuesday, acquiring left-hander Wandy Peralta and a player to be named later from the Giants in exchange for outfielder Mike Tauchman.
Peralta, 29, was 2-1 with two saves and a 5.40 ERA in 10 appearances for San Francisco this season. Over six Major League seasons with the Reds (2016-19) and Giants ('19-21), Peralta has gone 9-9 with two saves and a 4.72 ERA in 220 relief appearances.
In 2020, Peralta was 1-1 with a 3.29 ERA in 25 relief outings, holding left-handed batters to a .171 (7-for-41) opponents’ batting average with 12 strikeouts. He struck out at least one batter in 19 of his 25 games, averaging 8.23 strikeouts per nine innings.
