Eovaldi may not see it the way you do. He may see it as the club giving up on him before he had a chance to prove himself. I hope not, but I wouldn't blame him if he thought that way.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
I truly believe in Didi. He's as resilient as any player on that bench. If anyone can come back, he can.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
As long as he doesn't foster ill feelings for us letting him go when he had his TJ surgery. Some of these guys have long memories.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
What? We couldn't get Gretal in the same deal?by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Sounds like he was taking a close look at Machado's lack of hustle on the bases. That's certainly one thing you can't fault Harper on, is his ability to hustle, sometimes to an extreme when he crashes into walls chasing down fly balls. That would be my one concern, his ability to stay healthy and not get hurt so much. And as much as I don't like 10 yr deals, he would be 36 at the end, not 39 - 40by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
I think he hurt his marketability by stating that "hustling" is not in his DNA. No one wants a malingerer on their team unless they're desperate. That's the total opposite of how Bryce Harper plays his game.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Dave Roberts does not handle his starters well in pressure situations. Instead of pulling Kershaw after Betts' hr, he leaves him in to face JD and Bamm, another HR! But Hill, who was pitching a one hitter, he yanks! His moves leave a lot of questions with no answers.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Ditto! He's got arms out there that throw harder than Jansen, but insists on bringing in Jansen in the eighth and with his pitching motion, it looks easy to time his deliveries.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
The runs the Sux have gotten off of him in late innings have all come on the long ball. That's not a sign of a good closer. Just when you think the Sux are done for, someone gives up the long ball to get them back in.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
And saw the kind of non-hustle they're gonna get if they sign Manny Machado in the off season. The guy hits a shot to left and TROTS to first thinking its a sure thing HR, only to have it hit half way up the wall, AND because he was styling to first was not able to get into scoring position in a 1 run game! STAY THE HELL AWAY from Yankee Stadium Manny! We don't need your kind of ME, ME, ME styleby PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
I'm a Bronx New Yorker living on the West coast, hopefully the Dodgers can pull it out tomorrow so I can root for them to beat the cr@p out of the Sux! What a big letdown Houston was.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
I've never liked Machado's attitude from the get go. He thinks baseball's rules don't apply to him. Unless he hits it in the gap or out of the park, he ain't hustling to beat out a grounder. Good luck staying in the National League, we don't need you back in the AL!by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
I'm all for that, but like the man in the booth once said, you can never have too much pitching. If we can get a front line pitcher for the once removed NL MVP, why not?by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
They could always try to trade him to the Dodgers for one of their starters. ( I.e. Kershaw)by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Well, if we are going to go after Machado, might as well go after Harper too. One of them is gonna take us over the payroll limits, so might as well go whole hog and get the other guy too and not bring back McCutcheon!by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Yeah, but lately it seems when we give up on a player because of injury , they come back stronger than before and usually in another teams uniform to torment us. Think of Eovaldi, Pierce, etc. I can see Didi going over to Boston or Tampa and giving us hell every time we face him, because we gave up on him. And I meant Echevarria as a temp player not as career Yankee. I still prefer Didi over Machby PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Sorry to hear about Didi, but I hope they don't go jumping on the Machado band wagon. I feel Echevarria can be a suitable stand in at short til Didi gets back and MILLIONS cheaper! He's a great glove man and a decent enough hitter. Why dig yourself a deeper hole by getting Machado, then trying to decide who to keep when Didi is well enough to come back. I think Didi is great for this team, whereby PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
That's true, I'd like to see some more hit and run plays with our guys that have some speed.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
And if Loiasiga and Montgomery establish themselves, along with Severino and Tanaka, we should have a decent staff. Unless there's a lights out starter going into FA. But we also need a new pitching coach that can relate to these guys.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
All depends on how badly the Steinbrenner boys want to dethrone the Sox next year, by going after Harper and some pitching to replace CC. The Sox have had their way for two years in a row, I think it's time we took our turf back!by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Sometimes it seems he doesn't realize the kind of power he has. Especially in Yankee Stadium he could go the other way and what would seem is a fly ball to right, would go out of there! I think he needs to work on going the other way during batting practice instead of seeing how far he can pull and hit the ball. I mean just look at what Voit has done in his short stint with us. Sometimes these guby PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Have a safe off-season Toga, I'm hoping in addition to a new pitching coach, we can teach some of these guys to go the other way for base hits and not so much for the HR. Leave the homers to the big boys like Judge, Stanton, Sanchez, Voit, & Hicks. Unless they happen to go after Harper, who'd just kill it in Yankee Stadium.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Hey toga, did you notice how quickly the Boston pitching coach went out to talk to Porcello as soon as we got two guys on? Even with a 4-0 lead? Rothchild would've waited till it was 4-2 and tying runs in scoring position before going out to talk to our guy. I'm with you, Rothchild has to go at end of season!by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
They hit with runners in scoring position, whether it's with two outs or one out, and we don't! Every time I see an opposing team do something that we consistently fail to do, it just pisses me off, and I ask WHY can we not do that? I don't know how many times this season we've had bases loaded or second and third with two outs or less and fail to get a base hit. That is our Achilles heel on thisby PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
There were several we could've had if we played our cards right when they were available. And they're both playing for Houston right now who today swept Cleveland 3 games to zip. Verlander and Cole. Imagine where we would be if we had those two on our staff.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Not at all, I always liked Nunez while he was with us. He brought a lot of energy and hustle down the line when he hit ground balls. And he gave us good speed on the bases. I just don't root for him now that he's on the Sux. I especially liked when he used to run out of his batting helmet legging out a double or triple.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Bases loaded no outs and we can only score 1 run? If only our guys would stop trying to pull everything and go the other way, all we needed is a base hit, not a home run. Aside from Voit, all our guys keep trying to pull, pull, pull!by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
Tip of the cap to Sevy, let's channel that and bring it to the mound every time. That's the sign of a true Ace.by PRYanksFan - TheYankeesBoard.com
