Yankees’ Domingo German dominates in first game since suspension
It was a small step back, but an impressive one for Domingo German.
The Yankees pitcher threw four hitless, scoreless innings, walking one and strikeout seven for Toros del Este in his 2020 Dominican League debut Monday night. It was the righty’s first time pitching in a professional game in 14 months after serving an 81-game suspension for violating MLB’s domestic violence protocols.
The 28 year old is on the Yankees’ 40-man roster but is not a lock to return to a team in need of starting rotation help behind Gerrit Cole. German has three years of arbitration remaining. Even so, Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner in October didn’t commit to having German on the team in 2021, calling what German did “horrific.”
