The Yankees have claimed lefty reliever Matt Gage off waivers from the Astros, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported on Monday.
Gage had been designated for assignment last week to make room for Hader, who signed a five-year, $95 million contract, on the Astros’ roster.
The Yankees will have to open a spot for Gage on their own 40-man roster for the move to become official.
Gage, a 30-year-old out of upstate New York (Johnstown) and Siena College, has posted a 1.83 ERA across 16 major league appearances with the Astros and Blue Jays.
