The Yankees have signed catcher Luis Torrens to a minor league deal, according to the team’s transaction page.
Torrens split time between two teams in 2023. He played in 13 games with the Chicago Cubs and five games with the Seattle Mariners. In that time, the 27-year-old backstop went 7-for-28 with three doubles and four RBI.
The Yankees signed Torrens as a free agent out of Venezuela in 2013. He played in the Yankees’ farm system until 2016, when he was taken by the San Diego Padres in the Rule 5 Draft.
