Following brief stints in the Cincinnati Reds and Kansas City Royals' farm systems, former Texas Rangers top prospect Bubba Thompson is set to join the New York Yankees.
The New York Yankees have claimed outfielder Bubba Thompson off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds, the club announced Thursday.
The Reds designated Thompson for assignment on Dec. 28 in order to make room for free agent reliever Buck Farmer on the 40-man roster.
Cincinnati claimed Thompson off waivers in October, two months after the Kansas City Royals picked him up midseason. Prior to that point, Thompson had spent the entirety of his seven-year career with the Texas Rangers.
