The New York Yankees have two Gold Glove finalists for 2023. One is a rookie. The other is quite the surprise.
Rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe claimed his first finalist award for a Gold Glove at shortstop. The other was first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who missed a good portion of the season with a concussion and post-concussion symptoms.
Volpe played 159 games during his rookie season with the Yankees and finished with a fielding percentage of .970. He had 357 assists and 17 errors. Plus, he helped turn 63 double plays.
