Gerrit Cole's opt out..........

Here's the thing about Cole's opt out (which he probably will do)...

Not because he wants to leave New York, but to get an added year to his contract.

You see, the Yankees have leverage here with Cole's opt out, and it works like this....

If Cole opts out, the Yankees have the option (power) to add one more year to Cole's contract and NULLIFY Cole's opt out.


So the ONLY way Cole does not remain a Yankees is by the Yankees NOT adding that one extra year and letting Cole go to free agency.
