Ian had been signed by the White Sox in 2016. In 2018 he was rehabbing from shoulder inflammation and sitting in the Charlotte dugout when he was hit in the face by a foul ball. Three teeth were knocked out along with multiple facial fractures which required many surgeries. Obviously he missed the rest of the 2018 season along with 2019, so in 2020 he was DFA'd by Chicago. After being claimed by several teams, finally by the Twins who traded him to Cleveland in 2022. Cleveland sent him to Columbus where he eventually he declared himself a FA last November. In February the Yankees signed to a minor league contract. When he didn't make the final cut out of spring training, Ian extended his deadline to April 5th and on the 3rd the Yankees gave him in MLB contract = the rest is history. This is a real story of perseverance and we can only wish this kid success..
