Just watched it this morning... Some thing to agree and isagree here.
First, baseball is not football. It's one thing if you see a lack of hustle or laziness or sloppy play from your ballplayers, but it's another thing when you have hitters who just aren't hitting.
Is Oswaldo Cabrera a lazy, low energy player? No, of course not. He's a young, high energy, positive, athletic type of player
who happens to be hitting .193 with one home run. Should Captain Aaron Judge get in Oswaldo's face and tell him to get his shit together?? Does anybody really believe that would work????
Jason talks about not bringing prospects up from the farm... WHO would that be?? We already have Volpe, Cabrera and Peraza making 1/3 of the line up on most nights. He wants to put more prospects into the MLB roster? Jasson Dominguez just turned 20 in February. Can we give him time to develop more?? Volpe was christened to be the 2023 Rookie of the Year coming out of Spring Training... How does that look now??? Keep the Martian on the farm!! He NEEDS to develop more!!!!!!!! And Spencer Jones needs time to develop as well! He doesn't even have a full year in the minors yet, and he should be brought up??
I'll agree with releasing Hicks because he's completely useless now. Donaldson on the other hand, and this may sound crazy, but he's still a gold glover and he'll be gone at the end of the year.... Now if Peraza and/or Cabrera were killing it at 3rd then I'd say "yes", dump Donaldson ASAP!!! But they're not killing it at 3rd or anywhere, so we might as well keep Donaldson for the rest of the season.
A HUGE agreement is with the training staff!!! What the hell is with all these injuries over so many years?? It can't be a coincidence! Is there too much weight lifting in their program??
Jason is frustrated, as we all are... They've been a .500 team since the 2nd half of last season. It just might be one of those years.
