Two Tec-Geek Reasons to Hate the WBC

We argue against the Anayltic Geeks who mess with lineups - at least from our perspective. Well two things show they might have some validity to oppose the WBC especially from the Yankees perspective. Two of the players going JLo and Gleyber because the new Manfried rules will not be used during those games. JLo had the slowest pitch time in 2022 at 25+ seconds between pitches - the pitch clock is like 10 seconds less. As for the shift being disallowed, while it should give Riz more hits up the middle, Torres lack of range could allow more hits to fall in behind him.This could give an edge to allowing Anthony Volpe a chance to come up as a keystone sacker with Perazza at SS - Just a couple of thoughts

If two Yankees could be hindered by the new rules, imagine other teams like the Cards & Muts who have double digit players leaving for the WBC this week. We already had one ST game determined by the pitch clock - how many of those going to the WBC will be affected by the new adjustments overlapping the start of the season. Going to be interesting.
