11:40am: The “major part” of Correa’s physical has already been completed and the Twins have already examined his leg/ankle, tweets Heyman. He adds that the Mets offered a guaranteed six years at $157.5MM — half the original term of their offer — but insisted on the final six years being conditional upon his health. Correa, unsurprisingly, will take the larger guarantee and annual value to return to the Twins.
11:24am: The Twins and shortstop Carlos Correa are in agreement on a six-year, $200MM contract reports ESPN’s Jeff Passan (Twitter link). The contract, once again, is pending the completion of a physical. Jon Heyman of the New York Post adds that there’s a vesting option (or series of vesting options) that would tack another four years and $70MM onto the contract, if reached. The contract does not contain any opt-out clauses for Correa, tweets USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.
