Long term contracts are the norm for the top tier players in the game. Always has been. A five year contract will not get it done, and would definitely make the Yankees look cheap.
I’m thinking 320 million over eight years should get it done. That would be 40 mil per season. If Uncle Stevie wants to blow past 400 million so he can be worshipped by Muts Nation, then he’ll be in Queens for the next eight, nine or ten years.
