it might not be the whole reason and yeah all teams faced but I haven't paid that much attention to the rotations. The last 3 years we've seen the shortened seasons, shortened ST and this year after shortening ST they are cramming a full season into a short time span. The rotation came out of the gate gung ho firing on all cylinders - some have gone down with season-ending injuries. some just went on the IL and returned to action - the rest tried to pick up the slack - we saw that in Cole's last start before today - trying to go one extra inning throw those extra pitches, the extra energy and it backfired and just might have had the carryover into the first inning today. Cortes is pitching in uncharted territory - more than he ever threw in any season and there is still 6 weeks left before the playoffs; This is also the reason Severino was placed on the 60-day IL so that he wouldn't comeback too soon - will it give him enough time to prep for the playoffs - we'll see. Taillon might have given his all - coming from that ankle injury. Until yesterday Jordy had been consistent in giving his all maybe not always succesful but he was out there every 5th day since was brought up 4 years Will German be able to pitch like he did when he first came up - let's hope so. - as for power pitching relievers -control and command are also important. We saw Devers as a rookie take a 102 mile FB from Chapman into the seats. This is not the '98 team and now they've leveled off are not playing above their heads.
