Blockbuster on tap? Yankees pull prospects Jasson Dominguez, Trey Sweeney mid-game; Josh Breaux scratched

July 24, 2022 08:16PM
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says he’s been on the phone day and night trying to bring in significant pieces prior to the Aug. 2 trade deadline. Is something big coming soon?

Are the Yankees on the verge of completing a blockbuster with the Cincinnati Reds to bring in All-Star right-hander Luis Castillo?

Are they close to an even bigger deal, one that would pry 23-year-old superstar outfielder Juan Soto from the Washington Nationals, whose recent 14-year, $440 million extension offer was rejected?

A Yankees source said Sunday night that he’s heard nothing, but two of their top prospects, outfielder Jasson Dominguez and shortstop Trey Sweeney, were pulled from their game with the High-A Hudson Valley Renegades after six innings on Sunday. Catcher Josh Breaux, another of their ranked prospects, was scratched from his Triple-A game with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
