As a kid growing up, couldn't wait to turn on a Yankee broadcast but then I got to hear THE VOICE OF THE YANKEES, Mel Allen and would endure Red Barber (whom for whatever reason I just consider a Brooklyn Bum - great broadcasts. Along came television coverage of a GOTW still with Mel. Eventually the emergence of cable systems and seeing virutally every game. Now streaming comes along and they us to pay more $$$$ to see how ever many games get involved. So today I will stream the Fan broadcast and suffer through a ditzy Suzan and the aging, memory slipping Sterling. no offense but WHERE IS MEL ALLEN when we need him??? These don't even come close to excellent broadcasters.
Mel will always be THE VOICE OF THE YANKEES and Bob Sheperh THE VOICE OF THE CATHEDRAL - just my opinion but no one holds a candle to their voices
