Early reports state the Mayor Adams is lifting or amending the vax mandate to allow NYC athletes to play home games. This will allow Kyrie Irving to play at Barclays Center as well as any Yankee or Mets (reportedly 11 Muts) to play their home games. Rumors have been circulating since last week that this was close.
The Post reports: "Mayor Eric Adams will ease the city’s private-sector vaccination mandate so Nets star Kyrie Irving — and some possibly unvaccinated Mets and Yankees — can compete at home, a source familiar with the matter said Wednesday."
Interesting this comes after Randy Levine became an emissary to City Hall on behalf of MLB and two week before the Yankee home opener against the Sux - apparently MLB is more important to NYC than the NBA. Without Irving being available for much of the early season and all of the home games, the Nets had a nosedive in performance when KD went down to an injury in early January - going from a strong first place iin the playoffs to their present position of fighting to maintain a hold on the last spot. Of course, expect backlash from 1400 people who lost their jobs in January when the DiBlasio mandate took effect requiring those employed by businesses within the City to be vaxxed.
