Thanks to Isiasas there is no Yankee game today - tomorrow will be a funky DHer in Phillie starting at 4 pm. The Yankees will be the home team in game 1 to make up for todays PPD. Games will be 7 innings in the world that has become 2020. As a team the Yankees have shown to be resilient and able to adjust to all the weird changes in midstream - having last week's games with Phillie PPD due to the Corona outbreak of the Marlins who were in Pa at the time - then to head to Baltimore instead of the Bronx just to get some games in - tomorrow will be just more of the fly-by-the seat-of-ourp[ants scenerio. We kept spirits high as DJ, Chap & Cessa experienced COVID symptoms and played it safe experiencing no major outbreaks. These facts just make the remarkable start all the more special. We don't know what the future will hold for 2020 MLB but today things look a little brighter that it will be able to finish -
Judge says he isn't locked in - oh well if he can continue to get hits that's fine. Sanchez & Torres are in hitting quagmires - Gary gets a couple of good swings but flails with 2 strikes. Gardy has been a streaky hitter & right now he's going the other way with power
Remember in the early games when Stanton was showing his power - he was not using the face guard. Since he resumed using it, must be readjustment as he's not quite on it.
Starting pitching - well let's start with the bright spot. Cole Train has 3 Ws in 3 starts - but what makes that so amazing is we have yet to see the dominance of his A game. He goes with what works that game and makes necessary adjustments along the way. He never makes excuses for a bad pitch but will give credit to the other team. He has been so complimentary of his teammates- working with Gary between innings to get his perspective on pitches. He's supportive of his catcher which is good as Gary struggles at the plate 2/25. Jordy is showing a glimpse of the potential pre-TJ surgery and is an asset. Tank needs to be up strength & endurance as he returns from the concussion. Happ & Paxton both need to get their $h!+ together sooner rather than later in the short season - If they can't we have some young arms waiting for their opportunity inclduing Clarke Schmidt & Mike King. With 7 games in the next 5 days the pitching staff will be tested.
With two DHer's but only 7 inning games, it will be interesting to see how Aaron makes use of it. From what we've seen the guys out there will be ready when their number is called to give their all - they want to help the team.
There was no special reason or meaning for this post, just thought on a rainy day that show why I'm proud to be a Yankee - class & mystique always.
