probably - just read where Oakland has signed an 18-year-old 2-way player from Japan - maybe I just didn't pay much attention unless the Yankees were involved

maybe that's just way it seems - the player has to get permission from his Japanese club, and they post him and receive consideration - never hear of an MLB signing a Japanese high school player. So maybe it's just the impression this system has made on me through the years.

so actually only 1 top Japanese player is offered each year - but because of the red tape with Japanese teams having to post the and usually a n AS there, they get lots of hype - not upset with only six signings so far IF the majority can pan out

those players coming across the Pacific have shown a penchant for preferring the Left Coast with the big bucks of LA plus being 3-4 hours closer to their homeland. It's not like they're flocking to the Sux or Muts even the Astros. The aura & mystique of the Old Stadium might not have made the trip across the street in 2009 and making let alone winning the WS has become more difficult as expan

a little insurance in case of injury - but still need someone for either 2nd or 3rd and another arm in the pen. One more starter would be nice.
