He and I are so on the same page when he says Sanchez has to stop thinking about hitting everything out of the park and start going the other way to right. He says pitchers are consistently keeping the ball on the outer side of the plate and he keeps reaching over trying to pull everything. You would think hitting coach Thames would be drilling it into his brain, “Take everything to right field.” He is strong enough especially at Yankee Stadium to hit it out going to right, where a fly ball is usually a Home Run if hit squarely enough. But O’Neill says he’s not thinking at all about going to right, just about pulling the ball. Bravo! Paul, you should walk into Boone’s office and apply for the hitting coaches’ job.
