Jasson Dominguez’s spring performance offered a tantalizing preview of things to come from the switch-hitting “Martian,” who was reassigned to Minor League camp after the Yankees’ 9-6 Grapefruit League loss to the Pirates on Thursday evening.

The Yankees’ No. 2 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Domínguez was among the club’s most impressive offensive performers this spring, batting .455 (10-for-22) with a double, four home runs and nine RBIs in 11 Grapefruit League games.

“He’s a promising looking player,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said earlier this week. “I’ve been impressed with how at ease he is, how much he seems to enjoy the game and enjoy his teammates. It looks to me like in the batter’s box, the game is moving slow for him.

“He’s got that in his DNA, that knowledge of the strike zone. He lays off pitches easy and has really good thump from both sides.”

Domínguez, 20, was the youngest player in the Yankees’ camp. He is expected to begin his season with Double-A Somerset, where he played five games last season, and Boone has said that he could see a scenario where Domínguez helps at the big league level this season.
