3. The A-hole-ytics team thought a few years back that it didn't matter if the line up wasn't balanced with lefty and righty hitters, but they learned quickly and made the acquisition of Rizzo and trying to inject switch hitters into the line up. (Too bad Benintendi wasn't re-signed).
4. I disagree on your last point... The Yankees spend money. Yes, they could've landed Verlander a few years back which would've been huge, but they're not being cheap. They're always near the top on the big spenders list. Plus, it's not just about the tax penalties. There's also the loss of draft picks and the international signing pool. Something the Yankees can still be very aggressive with their big market status and they are.
