I don't think he's a bad manager but it might be time to move on.
Maybe in a few years my Yankees dream will come true.
As much as I love Donnie Baseball, I don't see how he (or any other manager) could've done anything differently for the Yankees this season. Not to mention, his Marlins are tanking just as fast in the NL East.
Bottom line, the Yankees waved the white flag at the end of July when they traded Chapman, Beltran and Miller (especially Miller). But Joe kept the focus on winning games this year, and not throwing in the towel. The fact that the Yankees have had one of the best records in baseball since August 1st speaks volumes.
So I repeat, anybody who blames Joe Girardi for the Yankees not making the playoffs this year, after losing Greg Bird, Nathan Eovaldi, the decline(s) of A-Rod and Teixeira, losing his best hitter (Beltran) and two thirds of his three headed bullpen monster (Chapman & Miller), is as dumb as a box of rocks!!
