We're in that lull where there hasn't been much going on in Yankee Universe since the news of Montas latest or continuing injury. For lack of anything to do this afternoon, I watched again Don Larsen's perfection in Game 5 in 1956 - of course, I heard the first part of it live while in school and ran home to catch the last innings on TV. Then it struck me: in those days I would watch Yankee OTD to see the players I had only heard or read about take the field and see the widows of Babe & Lou in attendance. Then gradually one by one they started to pass away become part of the Memorial List read before the start. Now all the players in that game are gone and their names have been added to that list. Having had the privilege to see so many decades of Yankee stars play - even when televison coverage was limited to the Game of the Week that game often was the Yankee game. It truly is a rich baseball heritage to be honored and respected.
