I think Zimmer would've helped Joe in the 2004 ALCS.

Supposedly Zim would suggest to Joe moves like, this would be a good time to steal. Too bad he wasn't in the dugout before Tony Clarke's 9th inning double in Game 5. Maybe he would've pushed Joe to have Rubin Sierra steal 2nd base, so he wouldn't have been stranded at 3rd base when Clarke's double became a ground rule double.
