And Now there are None

The Yankee Universe mourns the passing of Hall of Famer, 16-year career in pinstripes, Edward Charles "Whitey" Ford. For me it's the final member of my first Yankee teams, the star pitcher. For me he will always be the best southpaw to don those pinstripes - he always gave his all pitching through sore shoulders, being screwed in starts by Casey Stengle otherwise he might have had many more 20-game wins. He would attend every OTD until health prevented it. There are so many Whitey Ford stories but one that always made me smile was how as a 'brash' rookie he told Casy Stengle his goal was to help the Yankees win the WS - andhe did. Condolences to his family & friends, and to the Yankee fans who grew up watching him.

RIP to the greatest southpaw I ever saw - a member of the glorious Yankee teams of the 50's into the '60s.
