9:47am: The Yankees have announced the trade, so it’s a done deal. That was fast. The trade is exactly as reported: Miller for Frazier, Sheffield, Heller, and Feyereisen. By the way, the Indians will be in the Bronx for a three-game series next week. We’ll get to see Miller again pretty soon.
9:02am: The Yankees are trading Andrew Miller to the Indians, reports Ken Rosenthal. Buster Olney and Joel Sherman says the Yankees are getting four prospects: outfielder Clint Frazier, lefty Justus Sheffield, righty Ben Heller, and righty J.P. Feyereisen. Sherman says the Yankees are not eating any money.
MLB.com recently ranked Frazier as the No. 24 prospect in baseball. I wrote a little something about Sheffield in our Scouting The Market: Indians post. I didn’t include Frazier in that post because I didn’t expect the Indians to be willing to trade him. Wow. He’s significant prospect and one of the best pure bats in the minors.
Heller and Feyereisen are relievers in Triple-A and Double-A, respectively. Heller could conceivably replace Miller on the MLB roster, though I think he’ll spend some more time in Triple-A first. He’s a legit third piece; Heller throws 100 mph and is a potential end-game arm. Feyereisen is the fourth piece.
More to come (eventually), but instanalysis: holy crap, they did it.
