If there is a rift developing or one is already present between pitchers and hitters over this situation then the owners will be licking their chops when it comes to negotiating a new deal...divide and conquer has always been the philosophy of owners in these situations.
This divide between players would be music to the ears of the owners as it once again greatly strengthens their bargaining position and they usually have the advantage anyway. I hope the players can come together somehow during the lead up to and as the negotiations get under way...I'm hearing the Beatles' "Come Together" in my mind as it relates to solidarity between active players!
The MLBPA has been the strongest players' union but a wedge issue that divides them before the negotiations begin will not be helping their side. Very unfortunate.
