We used to have fun bashing BuddyBoy when he was Commissioner - when now he successor has taken over and is looking for ways to shorten the gam or maybe restore interest. Some of his ideas would totally ruin the concept of the game. Limiting the number of relievers in a game; shortening the game to 7 innings - come on Little League games are 7 innings. Now shortening the season would work for me - so that the WS is again over by mid October instead of going into November when a real threat of snow exists in some cities. This could be done by eliminating interleague play - so that the only time the American League meets the National League is the World Series. If you want to shorten the game itself, enforce the rules for keeping batters in the box; time between pitches - I say this laughing after the recent series with the Os. In the late 90's those games were known to go 4 + hours into the wee hours and high scoring affairs - this series most games were over in under 3 hours that was scoring 5 runs. Those games were great. I really would favor shortening the season and cutting interleague - if the idea is to allow fans to see stars from the other league, maybe an exhibition game or two that have no bearing on the standings. OK it's been a boring afternoon - yep Saratoga Opening Day, 90 degrees - it's summer but for me baseball make that Yankee baseball makes summer good.
