The Yankees are reportedly looking to the N.L. East for help at first base, but the potential partner is not the Mets.

The Bombers are “pursuing a trade” for the Marlins’ Justin Bour, according to the Miami Herald. However, the paper notes that the Marlins are going to ask for a steep price in exchange for Bour, who isn’t eligible to become a free agent until after the 2020 season and will earn a reasonable salary in each of the next three years. Bour is making $552,500 in 2017.

As a lefty-hitting power first baseman, Bour certainly fits the Yankees’ need. With Greg Bird still out because of a lingering right ankle injury, Joe Girardi has utilized a number of players at first base. None have gotten the job done, though recent call-up Ji-Man Choi is displaying some promising signs both offensively and defensively.

Bour, 29, is hitting .286 with 19 home runs and 56 RBI on the year. He’ll compete in the Home Run Derby Monday night at his home ballpark in Miami.
