Another home run from Spencer Jones today

Yanks' Jones reaches batter's eye with third Spring Training blast

There’s no denying Spencer Jones’ pure power, and he showed it again on Friday.

Facing Twins right-hander Raul Brito in the fifth inning of the Yankees’ 17-5 win at Hammond Stadium, Jones obliterated a decent curveball on a 2-2 count, drilling it a Statcast-projected 427 feet to straightaway center and off the batter’s eye. The ball bounced back onto the field of play as Jones trotted around the bases.

Jones had worked a 2-2 count then fouled off a curveball outside the zone from Brito before hammering one in the bottom inside corner of the zone. The ball left the bat at an estimated 107.5 mph.
It was the third homer of the spring for Jones, who ended last year as the Yankees’ No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline. He hit 35 homers last year in a season split between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
